Radium Engineering Top-Mount Intercooler Kit, Lotus 2ZZ-GE

This kit is comprised of the same intercooler used in the Radium Engineering turbocharger kits and can be used for custom built turbocharger systems. The Lotus 2ZZ-GE engine bay air flow comes from the driver and passenger side air ducts as well as underneath the vehicle and exits through the decklid of the Elise. The Radium intercooler kit redirects this natural flow using the included duct. This kit is shown in an Elise but will also work in Exige models as well. The aluminum shroud not only protects from the hot exhaust air, but also serves to trap the high pressure incoming air flow. Next this cool air is forced through the intercooler core and out through the deck lid using the included pusher fan. The air to air intercooler was chosen for its lightweight packaging and cost efficiency. It features a bar/plate core with custom designed end tanks specifically for the Lotus 2ZZ-GE. This core was chosen over a tube/fin design for its improved efficiency in a limited space. The intercooler end tanks are manufactured from cast aluminum. This process is superior to fabricated sheet metal end tanks as there are no inherent tight corners and everything is designed with a radius for optimal laminar flow. The hot side end tank uses a 2.25" inlet OD and features an integrated mounting boss with a universal 2-bolt "GReddy style" flange. Many different brands of blow off valves can be used with common available BOV adapters (not included). The cold side end tank uses a 2.75" outlet OD and features a 3/8" NPT, which is commonly used for an intake air temperature sensor. There is also a 1/8" NPT threaded port for sensors, methanol nozzles, fittings, etc. No modification to rear clamshell is required. Mounts to factory locations and does not require drilling or cutting. Not for vehicles equipped with a supercharger. Note: The intercooler requires the coolant expansion tank to be relocated.
